An Evolving Educational Technology Philosophy
Based on the educational philosophies provided, I would propose that I have an eclectic philosophy of teaching, learning and the educational system. My philosophy is comprised of several aspects of the presented schools of thought. My philosophy is based on my experience as a student, teacher, parent, administrator, innovator, and informator.
I believe the purpose of education is to assist individuals in the betterment of themselves for personal growth and wellbeing and to assist them in becoming contributing members of the culture and society in which they live.
Young learners are curious and motivated to learn. As a learner matures and gains knowledge, the individual becomes responsible for constructing knowledge and determining the relevance of knowledge to their own experience.
The role of the teacher in education should be one of facilitator, guide, fellow learner, encourager, and motivator.
